I got the brothers tapered bearing kit and after replacing the rear bearings I went to put the hub back on and they don't go all the way back on? Do i have to remove the back piece on the spindle? I so how do i do it. I have posted some pictures here for you to see what I'm talking about.

That rear piece is the old race. It needs to come off.
They usually pull right off by hand but you should be able to pry off.

If the old bearing failed, it may be pretty tight. Try prying first, but if that doesn't work you may have to heat the race to expanded it. If the bearing got real hot, I have had to go so far as torch races off. Hopefully, yours isn't that bad.

Say there AZ, are there any numbers or names on those tapered
bearings? I'm sure some of us would like to see them or have
you post them here.

Thanks

Denny, those bearings aren't a BCA number. I bought some several years ago. They are made in China and have numbers that don't cross over to any thing. I decided to put in used ball bearings after closely examining the tapered bearings.

the "good" rollers are actually MBS, a Japanese brand [here if you speak the lingo], and from previous threads here on the bearings, the dimensions are not an exact match for the ball style .... for Denny: Inner: MBS 909052R, Outer: MBS 909001R [or MBS 909067R]

Thanks Bill, put that in the data base. Won't fit my 3600's for
sure but if I run into a 1/2 ton road runner that someone wants
rollers in I'll have the numbers.
What exactly so ya mean, "dimensions are not an exact match?"
How could they be used if they don't fit? Is there some sort of
modification that needs to be accomplished before you can
install them? I mean ID & OD have to be the same unless you
have the capability to turn the spindle and hub. It wouldn't
surprise me if the thickness of a roller was more than a caged
ball but there is usually enough thread on the spindle to
adjust for that as long as you can still get a pin thru the
nut.
Just looking thru my reference material and those are the same
numbers the Charlie posted once before, Thanks guys, got them
both in the data base now.

Thanks again guys for all your help. I don't know what i would do without all of your help! Well actually I do I would cuss and fight things a whole lot more and not make any progress. I will give it a shot the races spin but don't slide off I will try heating up and see what happens.

What I see in the photo is since the spindle has that large fillet radius, it is likely the bearing race does not have the clearance for it. Actually the bearing looks too small. And I didn't see any old race there? Don't know what the first poster was talking about.

Kicking self for selling off my Taskforce trucks.
Still looking for an LCF or conventional big bolt in decent shape.

Lets see if I got this right Bill.
outer:
MBS 909001R:………Bore=19.057mm/ Diameter= 52.8320mm
Ball Bearing [B01]: Bore=19.044mm/ Diameter= 52.8447mm
I can see how this would work, the roller ID is only .0005” bigger
and the OD is only .0005” smaller.
But I would still use a drop or two of Locktite bearing mount just to be safe.

Inner:
MBS 909052R:………Bore=32.550mm/ Diameter=72.2600mm
Ball Bearing [B40]: Bore=31.760mm/ Diameter=65.1256mm
The ID according to those dimensions is a full 1/32” bigger than the stock ball bearing, even
the bearing mount won’t make up for that much clearance so that would be a pretty sloppy fit
even with help.
Now the OD, if your numbers are correct, is .282” bigger than the ball and there is now way
that would fit unless the hub was bored out.
Don’t think I would like to mess with that one unless of course the numbers are off by a bunch.

when the roller thing was hashed out some time back, that's the dimensions I noted, from searching the net and talking to my NAPA they are not identical replacement for the ball bearings, but if you add 'R' to the ball numbers [to indicate rollers] you may find someone with some NOS around, they were made at one time

other discussions about the rollers:
the HAMB .... Classic Parts forum .... the 67-72 forum

and for the record: a PDF catalog listing ball/roller interchange and applications .... a Chinese supplier with dimensions .... an e-bay seller .... a rod shop supplier that appears to source them from CPP, who may be distributing the Chinese version .... I ran across a note somewhere that the reason MBS bearings aren't common is they got fined for a "dumping" trade violation some years ago

I have no clue what a "large fillet radius is, but what I see is the the inner bearing cone and the oil deflector.
