The valves the fella sent with the head don't have the same stem diameter and the exhaust valves seem a bit too big. Leading me to question whether either one of them are correct. All I have found so far, was the 12 port story says he used cut down 47 cadillac valves. I found specs for the 47 engine, which is quite thorough, with the exception of stem diameter. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.

The 1947 Cadillac valve stems are 3.415/3.425 diameter. You get this spec from http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/doc...tion-kits/Cadillac/1947_Cadillac_VVI.pdf
Quite a way toward the bottom, page 51 in the PDF, it is numbered page 2.

Have you posted this question over on Inliners.org? Lots of Wayne heads collected by Inliners and there is a very active chapter up your way.

Outstanding, thank you. Inliners is what I was looking for. I called the lady up and she signed me up for the club...

I had it all the time, california bills hot rodding booklet has it in there, just not the addendum referring specifically to the wayne headed engine. Just for future reference, they were 47 cadillac valves cut down to 1.75" for intakes, and 1.62" for exhaust.
