I started the COE today. First time since early Nov. I'm thinking. Started on the first crank. Moved from the right side of the shop to the middle, got a little corn hole tourney tonight. Maybe I will take it for a spin tomorrow before I put it back in its spot.

Wanted to comment on Hambone's fire pitch. Ahhhhhhhhhh ... remember last year's blazing inferno? Awesome.

So ... I wanted to let you know that there was a flame thrower on the DRMO site (where John got Smedley D - as if you didn't know). Man, I was "yes, yes, let's get it!" Unfortunately, it only had the air compressor part and not the actual flame projection part. Oh pooh, fuey and nuts.

So, we'll still have to resort to matches.

Looking forward to the big event.

I have remained on the sidelines while this unsolicited and unwarranted charge, and fine was adjudicated without proper rebuttal and representation. I understand that, because my truck (if it is) represents the most important decade of truck advances and heightened styling detail, opens owners like me up to challenges from those representing "other" vintages. You can charge me for dragging my feet with my rehab and you might charge me for my lack of knowledge about engines, transmissions, sheetmetaling, fueling, etc, but charges solely based on truck ownership deserves counter-charges.
I submit that for the sake of balance and fairness, all owners bring that 12 pack and those coming from VA bring some Henry McKenna (which is sadly not sold in MD).
AND, who forgot to wish my truck Happy FIFTY birthday?

Looks like my work trip might have been cancelled (unless they plan a new one) so there is a chancel that i can come meet everyone. The truck will not make the trip since it is already halfway through the dismantling process and my plates have not shown up from the DMV as of yet.

If it doesn't I got first dibs on the futon in the confines of the basement of HQ, that is of course providing the woodstove is still stoked and cranking out those beautiful btu's!

Itinerary

Friday morning 4 trucks will roll into The Homecoming Compound, Phil, Sweet, Jim, and Cosmo. Cosmo will blow the Bull Horn to announce our arrival. John, US Marine coffee mug in hand, filled with black coffee (neat of course, as if he were on the forenoon watch) smiling, overlooking the ancestral manse. Hambone, stretching, eyes on the sky (as jet pilots are wont to do) gauging the clouds for the days weather to come. Billy will be finishing his second beer (in preparation for 'Cooler Testing' to occur throughout the day). As a group we will go find Peggy to thank her for the invasion of her home to the imminent three days of fun and music. We will then assemble The Homecoming Overdrive Team to beigin the extraction, rebuild, and reinsertion of Jim's model 319 Muncie transmission. John has limited room on his sign-up list for his Cab Extraction Project, sign up now!

Please voice your work and play expectations for the weekend. Please start thinking of what you can bring to contribute to meals. Will we be driving en masse to buy a restaurant seafood meal?

My plan at this stage in the game is as usual which should have me there Thursday eve. I am bringing the same as far as the menu goes.
I might have to perform double duty and participate on the cab removal as well as help out with the Overdrive Team.

I would say that today was the nicest day we have had yet but by no means what I would call a warm spring day. I think it topped out at 58 but started in the wrong direction not long after 4 pm. Sure hope we have real spring weather for the Homecoming.

I pulled out the Ol' Lifeboat 2 and started spring cleaning till a fire call came up. Then the Wife and I went down to Tractor Supply and Verizon. Then went to Cracker Barrel for dinner. Got the Daughter something shes been wanting for a long time to add to her Easter basket, and got me a new garden cart to haul trash to the dumpster behind the golfcart. Spring is taking it's sweet time getting here, but, shes a coming.

Sounds like a full day Mike. Mine was too! Not a very "spring" like chore but I split wood for a couple of hours.

Don't know how full the agenda is, but do you guys want another metalshaping demo at the shop?

Mike R -- Are you bringing a donation for the burn pile?? I hope so. It currently is a pile of christmas tree culls -- it will make a heck of a fire ... for about 10 minutes. So I hope you can bring me something a little more substantial to beef it up with.

I was referring to another constuction project to bring scraps for the fire, but if you want to burn Hambone's truck, that may be hard convincing Doug!!

Oh I can just see it now. All uf us leaning and rubbing all over Hambone's freshly painted truck. Will need to make sure we have plenty of beer on hand to calm his nerves. I'm sure once it is painted if a fly lands on it and farts he'll jump 15 feet in the air.

and if any out of towners would like to look at a good parts/project truck while here, this is located in Golden Beach, has a real solid hood, recently installed (partially) cab corners, door skins, etc. Comes with NIB chrome grille. This is a short bed truck that unfortunately the previous owner wanted a fleetside bed and got rid of the step side bed before figuring out how rare the fleetside short beds were. So it's presently cab and chassis only. Present owner said he was asking 800, but I think there is some wiggle room there.. Link to pictures:

Sorry Chris -- I missed your meaning. I know I'm pretty mean-spirited, obnoxious and generally disliked but even *I* have my limits (as far as burning Doug's truck at this point). The mental image of him crying like a schoolgirl is more than even I can bear. No sir, Mike Roache might be able to do that, but not I. Nay, not I.

On the other hand, Phil's image of all of us getting our grubbies all over it does strike a certain note of glee ...
