My left ankle gives me fits sometimes after twisting it many years ago and in the future might have to go with a automatic trans,I know adapters are used to put a modern automatic behind a 235 but is the adapter made for a original type starter or a modern version. I just put the foot stomp back on it and if I were to ever go with a automatic I would want to keep it if possible, anybody know if its doable.

any automatic has a built in bellhouse, which won't have the mounts for the linkage, and any starter that would work with the flex plate will have a key start solenoid, so you'd hafta rig your own, which would be a push switch on or under the floor with the pedal button attached

Here's what I came up with to have a foot starter with my 250/200-4R in my 57 3100. I used a foot starter switch for a tractor (Tractor Supply #0236643} . It will bolt to the floor and fit through the hole for the stock linkage. I built an adapter to allow me to attach the stock foot pedal to the switch.
Here's a pic of the parts .
And a pic of it assembled .

After installing the rubber boot over it, it should look nearly stock.
Comments welcomed.

regards,
Leon
