What type hose do you guys use when replacing the rubber vacum lines and connections for the Hydrovac booster?
I know heater hose will probably suck in. My originals are rotted, but they are huge O.D. About 1/2 or 3/4 I.D. But not hydraulic hose. I don't think you could clamp Hyd. line with hose clamps.
Thanks.

There is a specific hose out there that is recommended, comes in only 100' rolls and is very expensive. I went to my local NAPA and asked for the thickest walled, highest psi hose in that dia. they had and bought a few feet and it has worked fine and was affordable. It isn't heater hose but looks like it, it's used for higher pressure oil and fuel lines. I'ts been in the truck for two years now and still looks fresh!

Napa or any decent parts store should have a roll and should sell it by the foot. It is vacuum hose and has a sturdy wall so it won't collapse under the pull of air.

if it isnt a vacuum hose or a hydralic hose it will colapse when you start the engine grin

ive used hydralic lines to go from the engine to the firewall with no issues but i had the lines made up so that they are a compression fit. when i put the hydravac on my 40 i used vacuum line and hose clamps from napa.

Thanks Guys. I found some fuel-vapor line at my NAPA. The guy said it would work and not suck in. Its about 5/8" I.D.
Gonna give her a try. Guess I will know if it collapses.

The only thing that makes the 'vacuum hose' special is they used to have a steel inner wire support. That was the only thing keeping the hose from collapsing. I have both a CCKW and G506's and that's what's plumbed up to the vac's.

The trick is getting the support wire in the otherwise not that special rubber hose. I have wound springs on my lathe, and have a good idea for a way to make a segment long enough to go from the check valve to the 'vac.

What I have done for starters and to be able to try out the drivability of my truck is: I used 1/2" conduit pipe and a bender for my lines and made short connections with the above mentioned rubber hose.
Waiting for my Vac. from the rebuilder. I plugged the end of the vac line and ran the engine for a while. Didn't seem to have any leaks and the hose didn,t collapse yet.

My trucks both had hard line coming off the check valve (there was a small, 3 inch piece of rubber from the check to the hardline, held on with hose clamps) across the front of the firewall, then down. The only rubber was a small section where it jumped from the hard line on the cab to the vacuum intake on the piston canister.

It was the same coming off the intake to the check valve. Hard line then rubber.

That is how the factory ran the lines for my MVs
