Of course the engine trans mount setup has already been swapped around. What standard trans will bolt up to the engine? I am thinking anything that will mount to a small block chevy but I have been told the bellhousing would not work. That does not seem correct to me since the bellhousing on there is from a 92 astro van and that worked fine.

Nate | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | yes, nearly any manual trans will bolt to a small block if it has the correct bellhousing, the 700 has it's own 'bellhousing' built in, so you'd need a standard one to go with the trans, and the crossmember to support it, the stick trans doesn't use a 'trans mount' .... but why would you want to take out an overdrive??
Bill | | | | | Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 725 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 725 | Any 56 -62 V-8 truck and any 63-72 truck will will allow the engine/trans to bolt to the original mounts, front and rear. Any V-8 bell housing 56-62 and any other bell housing, at least through 1988 will bolt to the block. You must be aware that the are a couple of different alignment opening sizes, so decide on the tranny then find a bell housing that will go between it and the engine.
