Sounds like a neat truck. I'll have to wait for your pictures though, as the CL posting has been pulled.

I fired up the viking this morning & let it warm up while I was taking the tie down straps off, backed it off the trailer and parked it up. Here's the picture from craigslist,I'll get more pictures of it in my yard when I get a chance.

Hi,bigtim44! New guy, huh? I've been looking at all your pic's! What a COLLECTION! Your Viking makes a nice addition! That '56 G.M.C. 300 looked familiar, and sure enough,it's been in the "Gallery" for a few years, now. Too bad some idiot vandal had to break out some windows to get his kicks, but,at least, the guy was willing to sell it! Got any pic's of the '63 "Jimmy 5000 Diesel??? Keep-On-Truckin'!

I would also be interested in learning more about your '63 GMC 5000. If it's all original, I'm going to say that you have a Toro-Flow in it.

The GMC 5000 diesel was given to me by a local guy,I'm still deciding if I should rebuild the original diesel or find a retrofit like a 6bt cummins. Here's a link to a picture of the GMC 5000 diesel.

Bigtim44,
Regardless of whats in it for power.
I Hate to bust Your bubble But,unless sombody put a 64,5 0r 6 cab and nose on that truck......
That is Not a 63 Jimmy.
It,s also got a 64 hood on it,or at least the turn signals.
60 and 61 were totally different hoods and 62 had Clear lenses for the turn signals.
,to my knowledge only yr. for that.
1964/5/6 had amber lenses.
1960/thru 63 had wrap around windshields and dogleg doors.
1964/ 66 was a much more flat windscreen and easier in out of the
the cab.
Better take a look at VIN TAG on the left Windshield, post/A Pillar(should be riveted there) and see if Your numbers match up with the paperwork.

You are right, it is not a '63. Didn't notice that till you mentioned it. If the truck is all original, it is a '64 or a '65. Probably a '64. It very well could be an early '64 that was bought in the fall of '63 and titled that way.

As mentioned, let us know what the VIN states.

I spotted this 1959 chevy Viking 50 LCF snubnose cab on craigslist and just had to have it,picked it up in Denver today, nice complete deluxe cab,I've been looking for a 58 or 59 lcf for a while now.
I think I've also found a 1ton GM dually Van chassis to go under it.I took some pictures of it strapped down to my trailer for the trip home today.
Here's a link or two

Hi Bigtim 44,

Looks like a really nice truck you got there. Very jealous, I have 2 of these truck none in that nice of shape. Hopping to keep mine mostly original with some safety upgrades, for now! The emblem on the fender and hood is for a 58 and not a 59. Other than that both years are the same.

It could be a 58,it came with a bill of sale, need to run the vin to verify the year.
On a side note, can an Lcf cab be mounted onto the chassis from a regular cab truck from the same year?

definitely a 58, the vin will be xx58xxxx .... I doubt it'd fit on a conventional cab frame without some major work, but for frame comparisons, check the 58 resto-pack

I belive you could put the cab on the chassis from a regular cab truck(Same cab Mount Locations in both cabs), but your steps might touch the ground and the cab would be set back to far from the axle.
Also the front part of the frame would be too high for the LCF rad support( Drops about 10" to 12" below cab mounts).
Another problem would be where to put the engine I do not know if the nose would be long enough to accomodate a V8 without droping it in the frame.I am putting a late model 350 in mine and could not keep the serpentine acc. brakets. I needed to go back to the stock waterpump and V-belt pulleys.

So I chage my answer to I do Not think it would fit a regular chassis. Hope this helps?
