Bolters,

As all of you where new to Stovebolt at one time, so am I. The subject is the method I used to repair the door hinges on my '51, 1/2 ton AD.
The problem, as you all know is lack of oil. If they did find the oil hole you can't get oil in it and oil does not run uphill.

I removed the hinge pins, some easy-some not. I reamed the hinge (forged) to .3125 (5/16" std.). Ground the spacers off the formed part of the hinge and drilled the 5/16" hinge pin holes to 3/8". I machined two spacers from 3/4" round stock. Both spacers I turned a .375 (3/8") shoulder to fit into the new drilled 3/8" holes in the formed hinge. One spacer I reamed to .3125" and the other spacer I tapped to 1/4"-20. Then I tig'd the spacers into the hinge.

Let's see if I can get this picture stuff to fly????

The pin is shoulder bolt (5/16 x 2" SS) with 1/4"-20 jam nut SS.

The greese fitting is a flush fitting and it's a done deal.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
