Finished the bed side rails on my 49 3100... Pic just added... It's made out of local cedar which is cheap...would love to do Oak but too pricey.

Drilled the last bolt for the drivers side TPI tubes. http://www.bunchobikes.com/TPI.jpg Removed the intake manifold, removed the valve covers. Valley and rockers look really clean! Someone took care of this motor!

I decided to give powder coating a try in my buddy's homemade set up so after disassembly and media blasting the fresh air heater I picked up the other week, I coated and cooked the blower fan. The rest of the heater will be done in a bronze spray on hammered finish.

Came out pretty nice if you ask me.

His oven is big enough to cook the original 16" wheels so the plan is to do them as soon as I decide on a color.

For me one of the most "fun" jobs in our hobby is to take one item like the heater, vent window, seat, gas tank etc. and tear it down completely and rebuild it. I rebuilt my vent-windows and heater a few years ago and just finished rebuilding the horn.

Put the intake, drivers tubes and magnesium valve covers in the soup.

Pulled the boards out,sanded them down and hopefully will be able to get out tommorrow to buy some marine grade finish to put on.

Sanded down the front fenders and got them painted. Now I have to get some help to hang them.

Not exactly today, but last Saturday...our '58 Apache with a '73 Camaro sub frame:

Hung the control arms, compressed the front springs & put in the pockets, bolted up the spindles, bolted up the new power steering box, idler arm, center link, and inner and outer tie rod ends. (That 1/2 lb. burger & fries afterward never tasted better!)

Pulled my engine today!
Also got the meal assembly off the frame rail.

All that is left is a frame and 2 axles!
Before I know t il be cleaning and pinting the frame

Sanded and painted the tail gate. Went for a drive and before I knew it the day was over.

Got the fenders hung and the doors re-adjusted.

Then spent an incredible amount of time figuring out how to make the steering wheel horn work on this aftermarket column.

Not able to work on it everyday, but last week I started replacing the frost plugs on the side of the block, and under advise from my buddy decided to pull the tranny to replace the frost plug at the back of the engine. More to come!

Funny how different areas have different names for the same item. We always called them freeze plugs. I guess in Canada it's not a freeze until it hit's 40 below. LOL

This weekend I finally welded the spring tab on the park brake rod fabed a hook and got the return spring working. That has been on my bucket list for a good while.

Drilled and tapped the thermostat housing broken bolt on the intake. Sandblasted the intake.

PO had welded the end of the crank so the harmonic balancer wouldn't fall off? I was able to pull if off and cleanup the snout, then drilled and tapped it. The woodriff key had seen better days, so replaced it along with the timing cover seal. Re-installed radiator and anitfreeze, good to go.

Found out the 37 will need a new battery,its from wally world and not too impressed with it since day one.

I finally got the dash back together with all new wiring, bulbs and reconditioned gauges (at home, not sent out). Installed a battery, turned the lights off in the garage and pulled the headlight switch. No head lights yet but I sat in the cab thinking, and smiling, THIS IS COOL.

I painted the backs, edges and hat of my rotors with high-temp VHT header paint, and put on a 3rd coat of red Duplicolor caliper paint on the pair.

new 454 is mounted along with the Clark 5sp OD. Carb on, Manifolds on, Driveline is off to the shop to be shortened. I the process of wiring the whole sucker now

Took the camper off the deck today (it ruins the mpg) and noticed that the sway bar link on one side is bent like a banana.

Gotta look into that.

Finally finished (it's never really finished) my rebuild of my 52 3100. I'm not using the word "restored" because to many people misuse that term and/or have different opinions as to what really rates the word restored. So let's just stick with rebuilt. I know a lot of you have answered many questions for me over the last 2 plus years and I want to thank you!!! I absolutely wouldn't have gotten this far nearly as quick w/out your help. Thanks a million! Seems like that's how many hours it took!!!! Here's some before after and during pics. I had some wheels powdercoated several years ago. The cost was $40.00 per wheel. Was your cost anywhere near that?

I picked my '53 3100 up last week, I adjusted the valves yesterday, today took about 100 pictures of it. Plan on documenting the build and using the pictures to help on the reassembly. I have quite a bit of work ahead of me, should be a lot of fun too.

I finally gave up with bench testing my gas gauge, too frustrated. Put the tank back in, put the gauges back in, hooked everything back up and put gas in it. Surprise! The gas gauge reads full! Now for the speedo...

I think that sounds about right. I paid the company that powdercoated them $70 per wheel because I had them sandblast them first. I didn't want to attempt it, so it was well worth it.

Sandblasted the valve covers, tubes, plenum and other items. Glued on the valve cover gaskets.

Because I'm taking my truck on a camping trip next weekend I spent time last night checking things over........
. Pulled all the plugs. Cleaned & regapped them
. Checked oil & added 3/4 qt.
. Added half gallon of coolant
. Checked all the tires & brought them all up to 35 psi
. Tightened the fan belt
. Stowed the tool box under the seat
. Stowed the jumper cables

Hope to have a relaxing, uneventful weekend under the stars by the camp fire!!

You've got to be kidding me! It's supposed to get up into the 40s here in the next couple days for the first time in months! I live in the wrong part of the country. Camping?! I can't take it.

They look really nice...I like the color too. I'll got a bit lighter in a cream color I think. I was gonna paint them myself but PC would be better. Mine will be new bare metal but doubt I can get it done for $40 around here. Early wheel charges $70 which I find way too much...

Woody...glad to find this AND your collection of door art/signs. I'm in the process of developing one that would have been my Uncle's in Salinas, Ca back in the 40's. Markham Cattle Co. One of the pics in your gallery (what a totally cool collection) had a four digit phone and just said "Dial" and then four numbers. Gonna steal that idea. I was able to find his original phone number...four digits..7681...from 1945. Got it from the Monterrey Co. Hist. Soc. Only took them a day to find it.

Figgered I'd try to replace instrument panel bulbs. Dads 50 showed me where the sockets were but I could not feel them. Got a lite and stretched out on the floor to look... There are not any sockets except one for the gauge cluster...all others are MIA.

I am taking the frame to have it sand blasted this week.I hope to have it ready to paint by Saturday.
