A pic or two of a little progress on the 3 ton... Bed wood is laid in awating varnish and metal strips being put down. I experimented with an od green on bed rail and frame and think I will go with it on the whole rig. Heres a pic or two...

Varnish, I'd find someone changing their oil from a diesel engine and use that on all sides of the wood, it will last longer than varnish.

Kicking self for selling off my Taskforce trucks.
Still looking for an LCF or conventional big bolt in decent shape.

Back when we pulled flatbeds with wood floors, we mopped them with linseed oil on a hot day. I have heard of drain oil but we put wood side boards on the trailers and back hauled food grade grain and the oil stays oily forever. We only mopped the top of the wood because the moisture was to be allowed to escape out the bottom. Our flatbeds now have aluminum with apitong nailing strips which require no sealer.

a water repellent wood preservative would be good too.It looks as if you have used pressure-treated wood.Varnish won't "key"into that very well.
