i need a little help here, i picked up a 55 235 that hasnt run in 30 years, i took the head off and sent it out to be redone,i wanna replace the cam and lifters, i have it all open now,(timing cover and oil pan off)my question is, is there a special way to pull this cam out?i'm new at this and just need a point in the right direction, im building this motor to replace the 216 in my 46 1/2 ton, any help would really be appreciated

Remove the lifters. The cam has a retaining plate that is behind the cam gear. The plate is held in with 2 bolts, turn the cam and look thru the hole in the gear for the bolts, remove them and then the cam will pull out.

Its really that simple and btw what I found is that the cam gear is just pressed on.
