After reading Horvath's great posts, I've decided to go EZ Wire for my 47 AD. Since I'm changing to a 292, are there any differences in the wiring, or is it all basically the same in the engine bay? I guess I could ask the folks at EZ Wire, too. Thanks in advance,
jay

The EZ-Wire instructions show how to wire various types of alternators or generators, etc. ... and if anything else comes up, you can always call the EZ-Wire tech guys as well as ask here.
Keep us posted on your progress!

I have a 283 small block and it was a pretty smooth job in wiring. Wiring Harness Pictures Hope this helps. Chris

The whole wiring went well except for the light switch wiring. Does anyone out there have wiring diagram that show the pin out of the switch. The lights work and flashers and turn signals work. The turn signals are from Grote and I had to bypass the hazard and flasher to get it to work with the old Flasher/Hazard relay. When I start the 51 the tail and licence plate lights turn on with the light switch on the off position. So I suspect my light switch is not wired correct.

#92056 06/22/2005 2:01 AM | | Anonymous Unregistered | | Anonymous Unregistered | What does this harness consist of? On my 53 its just a fire waiting to happen and I dont want all my hard work to burn down. Does it replace every wire on the truck? Does it make a difference of you have an alternator or a generator? If you go to an alternator later what can you or do you have to do? Did you wire them yourselves? Was it realatively easy? Did you buy the kit right off the site (or where?)? Which kit did you guys buy?
Thanks soo much!!!
BTW, I read your site chris and your truck looks awesome!

On my 53 its just a fire waiting to happen and I dont want all my hard work to burn down. Does it replace every wire on the truck? Every single wire on the truck gets replaced, bro. Check out my install Here Does it make a difference of you have an alternator or a generator? If you go to an alternator later what can you or do you have to do? It doesn't matter as far as the kit is concerned ... but if you're going to go with an alternator, I would do that when I do the wiring kit and be done with it; do it right the first time out. Did you wire them yourselves? Was it realatively easy? Did it all myself. Yup. And it was fun! It looks daunting when you get the kit -- but plan each wire before you start ... know what you are going to do before you do it ... then take one wire at a time and it's easy as pie. Did you buy the kit right off the site (or where?)? Which kit did you guys buy? Those questions are answered at my site (link above) with a link to the kit I bought.

Should I still go with the kit you got, or should I go with the EZ 12. Will I have way to many wires laying around if I go for the EZ 21 like you did? Like I said, I have the straight six, stock guages and such, just in the process of working out my 12V. Someday it will be updated somewhat. Thanks again.

No sense in having a dozen circuits you'll never use ... but if the EZ 12 is questionable; if you think you may one day run short, or perhaps a future owner may want more, then I'd say go with the EZ 21.
Simple as that, bro'.

#92060 06/23/2005 1:24 AM | | Anonymous Unregistered | | Anonymous Unregistered | okay well then I guess I will have to decide. The price isn't all that different between the two, I like to keep my options open though. I guess I will just have to decide. Thanks again.

Then whever you want to add something, you've got the wire and it's own circuit.
Plus, if you ever sell the vehicle, having all that will help in the selling features.

Hope all is well with you. This post remined me that I have a complete harness replacement in my garage somewhere buried. Maybe when I'm done restoring the daughter's '65 Mustang, I'll search for it and rewire my daily driver.
