I find myself having to purchase a 6v starter w/ seleniod from a 1949 chevy sedan, automatic. What can I expect to happen when I connect it. Thanks Jorge | | |

If yes the starter will be fine but (I am not sure about this part) I think you will need to put a resistor in line to the solinoid. 12 volts may burn it up. I am sure the some of my fellow bolters will tell me if I am full of it or not.

You may need to use a 12V solenoid with the 6 volt starter, which may require some creativity, or convert back to a 6V foot stomp starter, which can be run on 12V with impunity as long as you don't allow it to overheat by cranking too long.
