I was reading though some of the old posts and came across a few about sound dampening the inside of your doors. Thanks to Tony at 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks for recommending Peel & Seal that you can buy at Lowes. That stuff went on great, was easy to cut with a utility knife, and I can't smell any asphalt smell. For $16 I got a 6" x 33' roll of the stuff. Sure seems like it will stay stuck.

Now I just got to finish putting the doors together and on the truck.

I've heard of that stuff. Let's see some pics of the doors please. Did they need any new skins or rust repair? I have collected a few doors but all mine need repair. Still, they are better than the ones that came on my truck.

The driver's side door was pretty banged up, rusted in the two normal spots, and the door check must have broke sometime in it's life and put a huge crease in the door and a torn hole. I broke down and bought a new door. Pricey but glad I did. I have the old door sitting outside my garage right now if someone wants it but you have to come pick it up. I stripped off all the internals and hinges though. You can see a picture in my photobucket.

The passanger side is original and only had some surface rust.

peel n seal and similar is great stuff, but if you ever do need to make any repairs to the metal, be prepared to totally replace areas that have it on, it will not come off if applied to clean metal

With a bit of liberal heat, applied to the backside of the panel, the Peel-n-Seal will come off the panel. The residue can be removed with MEK or acetone.

MEK is dangerous so wear chemical resistane gloves, that stuff will be absorbed thru the skin and attack the liver. Just be very careful. Where ever you get MEK they are obligated to provide a MSDS sheet and read it.
