Very good question........

My truck has the regular gauge, reading "D" or "C" for the battery. I guess someone has switched it out before I had the truck.

I look forward to someone's response, I have thougt about switching the gauge out for the other type.......

Not sure, but I remember reinstalling mine when I redid the wiring harness. Think I got it in with the wires backwards and when I started the truck up, it read that it was discharging. Swapped the wires and then it read that it was charging. Believer that the ammeter simply reads the amps inline with the wires and you can't screw it up beyond reading incorrectly. Good luck!

Geezer is right. Hooking the ammeter up backwards does it no harm, just reads the wrong way. If a "+" or "-" isn't indicated at the terminals, then hook up and if it reads in the wrong direction then simply reverse the connections.
