I assume that the terminal connects to the plus Battery and the horn frame is mounted to a boss on the engine manifold which is ground. where does the single wire from the horn connect. When you press the horn button, this wire get connected to ground? I think? Inside the horn is a coil connected to one side of a closed contact. the other side of the contact connects to the case which is ground. If I power the horn, plus to the Horn terminal, and the case is ground, then the coil is energized and the contact opens.
Now, if I connect the lead from the horn button to the horn terminal, when i press the button it should connect the ground side energize the coil and the contact should close. Whats wrong with this picture? Is this how the horn works? It's not powered. Someone with more knowledge of your type of set up than me will have to chime in but if it were me I'd run a separate hot wire to a separate switch to power the horn or use a stock horn. They are plentiful and relatively cheap on ebay.
