I have the Protect-o-plate and from that I can see that the original was a 283 (has code F1009WA). the stamped code on the current engine is S0821XCA. The guy I bought her from said it was a 327 but I'm not sure. Closest I can find is that it is a Saginaw Service engine, and that it is most likely a '70 or later engine (3 letter suffix code). The closest code that comes up is for a '69 C10-30 350 w/automatic, but that would have a 2 letter suffix code (XC).
