I'm not sure if you are asking a question or stating that it can be done. I know that I was able to repair my gauge, it was fried and I replaced the fine resistor wire and now it works fine.

Leo, could you fill us in a little more on what you did to repair your gauge? Did you take any pictures?

The gas gauge has two very fine copper wires, about as thick as a 5 amp fuse. One was fried and I simply soldered another one in place. The replacement wire was a single strand of a copper braided wire.
