This is our 1966 Short Wheel Base Fleetside Pick Up. My name is Joe McCoy and my wife is Dana Ruth McCoy. We live in the Granbury Texas area. The 66 is a two owner, (My mothers boy friend bought it new) and now we have it. It has 66,500 original miles. It has power steering, power brakes with a powerglide automatic behind a 283 with a two barrel. Poor thing never saw the inside of a garage until I got it and restored it to this level. barn find,seems to stay at around 180 temp
has flex fan,I think should get electric fans on it

Thats a sweet ride. I worked at Chevy dealer in 65/66 and those pickups are roomy, look nice and will go if you want it to. Lucky you that you have some of the options...PB/PS.

New to Stovebolt and new to auto restoration. I just purchased a 48 1/2 ton Chevy Pickup that had been modified with the frame/bed shortened. All wheels are 12 lugs and the 216 has been replaced w/a 235. Appears someone cut the frame about where the bench seat would start, and attached the rear end/rear frame from a 1 ton or so. Has double rear springs with a huge rear end and a 4 speed column trans, with a granny gear that could pull out tree stumps. I don't want the heavy stuff, looking to do a frame off and will post pics when I figure how to do it. Wonder if anyone knows of a club/group of old chevy guys in the Conroe/Woodlands,N. Houston,Tx area?

Welcome to the Stovebolt,Allen. Lots of great folks here and even more knowledge. Sounds like you have quite a project ahead of you. I'm sure you'll find lots of Texans here and lots of good idea's.

There guys up here with rolling frames for 200 or so, if I wrw you if buy a project truck for under 1000. Swap cabs take the best parts of the two and recompile you money parti g out what cha don't need. Up in Denver I can buy a truck for 600/1000. If you had to drop a grand on a project you could steal the frame and whatever else you needed ,then sell the rear slowly as ppl need ( someone is alway looking for this stuff, and the parts are common which means that although they r not rare they are in demand cause folks build them,and someone will need that's stuff )
