Truck is 56 GMC 1/2 ton, following manual instructions I have identified a bad tank sending unit. I ordered a replacement, upon arrival I noticed that it had 30 ohms stamped on it. I removed old sending unti and it has 90 ohms stamped on it. I know I need the correct ohm range so the stock gauge to work correctly, I could not find an answer in the manual. Second question; is bending the float arm the correct way to calibrate tank level to gauge reading? Thanks for your help, Roy

This is a street rod parts house Yogi\'s that has some information on senders. It looks like up to 1964 is 0-30 ohm , 1965 and up 0-90 ohm.

You have to shorten to length the float arm to adjust. If you just bend it, the gauge will never read clear full or empty depending on which way you bend it. I bought one of the above units for my 37. They have great direction for setting the right float arm length. Joe
