The engine has been rebuilt, as well as the carb & it has a new fuel pump. What I suspect is the fuel doesn't get to the card before the battery gets low. Question: would a leaking intake manifold gasket impact how quickly gas can can be pushed/pulled to the carb? Also, I've found something called "Intake manifold aligning sleeves" which is a set of 3 rings that go between the manifold and the head; do these help prevent air leaks? Thanks. They do not help prevent leaks but they can cause a leak. one example is if you have your manifold decked or machined, the rings may also need to be dressed down as they may then be to thick. Checked the choke and sure enough it wasn't closing all the way. Made the adjustment & the engine started right up. I used the starting liquid and no increase in rpm.
