Here's a simple (maybe simple minded) question.

The catalogs I took a quick look at don't list wire grommets for the park-light buckets on 47-53 GMC 1/2 tons. Will one of the standard firewall grommets work? And what about the park-light lens gaskets? Jim Carter has the bezel to fender gaskets.

Both grommets and gaskets are available from Chevys of the '40s. www.chevsofthe40s.com or call 800-999-chev

Believe it or not - I recently did this and also changed the socket to take the dual filament bulb. A couple days before, the wife bought a ceiling fan and after the installation was done, I had a couple extra grommets for mounting the fan blades - perfect fit!!

Great. I see I was looking at the wrong catalogs. I also think I'll take your advice and look around for close fits before sending in more money.

Don't know how I got this posted twice. Maybe shouldn't have gazed at it afterwards.

Thanks again.

I'm also looking for the grommets that the wires go through for the parking lamp housing. My 1953 GMC has very hard grommets and I need to replace the wires and grommets.

I ordered the "firewall grommet kit" and had a couple left over, since I don't need a vacuum hose running to the wipers anymore. They also sell everything individually.
