Hi Guys,

Most of you know that I have(Had) a '91 cummins dodge....
sorry to say it met a tragic end between Summerland and Peachland on the 97c Saturday Morning....
I was going up there with 2 freinds of mine to look at a '69 Olds cutlass....pulling a 12,000# car trailer....
on a icy stretch of road, the trailer decided to push the truck....into a ditch/rockface, better option than the cliff down to Okanagan lake 500' below...
the trailer broke free of the truck in the collision, fracturing the trailer side hitch, ripping the safety chains off the trailer, pretzling the reciever, and the 1/2 battery (destroyed in the collision) stopped the runaway trailer within 100' straddling the fogline on the other side of the 2 lane highway. no injuries, but the ft end is a mess, frame horn damage, winch bumper now straight and a foot wider, winch thru grille, a/c condensor and rad kissing fan, some contents exited canopy thru window, other stuff bent tailgate, passengers dented inside door panels (metal) with shoulders during the 270* change of direction. vehicle still ran, backed out of ditch, chained up trailer to pull off hwy, and shut her down due to rad leak...no other vehicles involved, thank god!, lived to tell the tale....a newer vehicle would be 2-3 feet shorter, mines only 6 inches.

Wow Dave ! Like you said....better the rock face than the cliff. So lucky there wasn't on-coming traffic. Did you buy a lottery ticket when you got into town ?

That is definitely bad news for the truck and good news for you and your friends. I guess that is right where 97C ends and meets up with 97 if you got a view of the lake. Hope you still aren't up there, it's going to be nastier weather wise.
