Gentlemen and ladies of the ODSS,

Never too early to fill our calendars with fun-filled activities for the new year. Sergeant-at-arms Sweet and I recently performed an exhaustive search of a favorite route of mine (from this day forward to be named 'THE 151 RUN') only to be met at every establishment with good food, friendly barmaids, local beers, wines and the odd hard cider.

Let us use our collective brainstorming to pencil in dates for our tried and true 'MUST-GO-TO' events as well as a 'WISH-LIST' for events and get-togethers. John, any way to make a calendar that could be locked out at the top of the ODSS Forum?

I would like to make a trip down to visit the Southern Bolters. They look to have an active and fun-filled group and I would enjoy putting a face to the names I've been reading of for the last eleven years. Another idea I had that I broached with my own Central VA Old Truck Club was a trip down to Floyd, Va and the moonshine capital down there. A stay over in Floyd on a Friday night was what I had in mind with a run down part of The Crooked Road Music Trail .

The 151 run has really got my attention. Cold beer, friendly barmaids and good food. And old trucks. Love it!

Is the the 151 run route? If it is, I had friends in that area - one of my old stomping grounds (before vineyards/wineries and breweries). However, we used to pick apples for cider, apple wine, and applejack.

I too would enjoy both runs Cosmo posted. Others I'd like to try if possible are Kansas City, Macungie, the Southern Md poker run, a cruise down the Blue Ridge Parkway, Tri-State, and others I'm sure I'm forgetting.



I doubt I make all them this year, but it's fun to dream!!

The idea was to post the proposed events/dates in the other thread. But we can delete that other thread and do it here, if that's easier.

If you guys go to Floyd, I should be able to make it depending on the date. I live about 90 minutes away from there.

Yes.. I had thrown out the idea of hitting some of the cruise nights in MD. The only one that seemed interested was Sweet at the time. There are cruis nights somewhere just about every night of the week. All are open to anyone and usually only ask a buck or two for entry. I've heard some tend to be snobby, but the GP has always been welcomed where ever I take it. Some are small with only maybe 20 or so cars, but others are hughe with hundreds a cruisers in attendance.

I think several brothers are interested in doing the cruise night thing. Since our great brotherhood is vast and we are canvased over a large area, it would be challenging to get most of us at a Friday night or Saturday cruise in.

My personal opinion, and please take it as you may, is to announce to our group that a cruise in is taking place. Those that can attend, great. The more the merrier. However understand that no one may show also.

There are several weekly cruise-ins here in my area and I would love to have my brothers attend. I would want to meet prior to the cruise in and actually roll into the event as a group. For those who have done that like we did at Clifton years ago, it was and awesome thing to do...

I agree Sweet. But it would be nice to rotate so that nobody is forced to drive long distances each time. Because most cruise nights occur weekly, if someone wanted to propose a calendar then it would be easier for people to plan. I like the idea of gathering prior to the event, if for no other reason to give us a bit of time to grab a bite, as not all events have food available.

Bro. Sweet -- By announce, do you mean something to the effect of saying "Hey, I'm going to the _________ cruise-in this Saturday! Who's in?"

I think that's about as good as it will get -- seems like last Summer, the few things we tried to plan as a group were impacted by everyone's fluid schedules.

We have a Wednesday cruisein here in So. MD that Peg and I only went to once last year ... (and that one seems to be for Corvettes and cookie cutter muscle cars/self-propelled boom boxes. Trucks are tolerated...)

Exactly John. Since we have very fluid schedules with many people coming long distances, not even factoring weather issues, it would be challenging to get going.

My plan is to do exactly as you stated, and when I read that someone has a cruise in, and I got the itch and the time, I'm hitting the road!!
