Hello,
I just started dismantling my 216 out of my 1950 3/4 ton
I did have the engine running before I pulled it and compression was good in all cylinders ( I can't find the numbers but they were all within limits.
All the cylinders look great except for #4 the wrist pin was loose and scored both sides of the cylinder I'm not sure how deep they are .
I believe the original size pistons are installed the only marks on the top are the letter T and the piston position number.

What is the Max overbore I can go?
Can you sleeve these engines
Any suggestions on measuring the damage to see how deep the grooves are

Thank John

Here's the Engine Spec's from manual for comparisons and starters. Are you SURE it's the original engine? and this is how you measure to find out...

You can easily go .040-.060. Some 235's have been bored to.100+ but it isn't advisable. Not a problem at all to clean up a scored wall on most engines unless it's really bad. Stock pistons were offered up to .040.

No I'm not sure if the engine is the original
The engine code is HAA364772.
Hopefully I can get a inside micrometer and see how deep the grooves are but they are pretty deep.

HAA is a '50 Standard Car Engine (216) made in Flint serial no.

Egge and some other vendors offer 216 & 235 pistons and rings as large as .100 overbore.

Just have a sleeve put in the one hole. And then just put it back together! Just my 2 cents worth.

The machine shop that does the work will have or can get the sleeve. They'll have to bore the cylinder out some to allow the sleeve to be installed.
