The casting number shows a 54-57 block. The generator pulley didn't line up with the harmonic balancer and the water pump so I put a spacer in line to even things up. I just burnt out the generator and need to know how to replace it with the right one. Do I need the long or short shaft one. I've converted to a 12 volt system. Any ideas? | | |

It is a Canadian 216 and it looks the same as a 235. When I installed the generator bracket on the block, I thought that it was the same at both ends. What I discovered was that the generator pulley didn't line up by a small amount. I turned the bracket around and the generator line up perfectly. | | |

You can fit an alternator on there by flipping both the bottom and top brackets over and bending the top one slightly.
