Can anyone provide any information about this vendor? I was referred to them by a guy at the Turkry Rod Run in FL as a good source of parts for my 53 panel truck. I received ther catalog and was impressed by the number of items they carry. Prices seem low compared to most everyone else. Is that becuse the part quality is also low? Any feedback would be welcome.
Thanks, Bill

They have the best window /door stuff, there wiskers are pre bent and come in a tube.I just put another order with them and have used them for both the 52 build I did 4 years ago and now the 53 GMC build. They don't ship as fast as Clasic of America but they have good prices and carry some items that the other venders don't.

I've been to their shop in California a few times. Very cool place, lots of displays to look at. Car parts on one side of the store, truck parts on the other.

They also pack a semi truck and sell at the swap meets in area, Pomona, Turlock, hot August nights.

They seem to sell the same items all the others do, so You will have to compare for the best price.

If you contribute to the site you get a few discount codes for a couple of the vendors that may beat truck shop prices

I did use their door seal kits and was very pleased with them.

There is come kind of relationship between the truck shop in orange California and the COUNTER PARTS brand we all seem to purchase.

The web site is easy to use and navigate.
In November they offer 10% discount with a post card they mail out if your on the mailing list.

Since moving to Los Angeles I have been to the Truck Shop twice and purchased many items. Their prices are generally lower and the counter folks are friendly and knowledgeable on their parts. When I tried to 'miss and match' they were happy to would pull the parts I was interested in. However, they are not mechanics on our trucks. They are sales people.

And. What's up with referring to the "Review Board" at another site?

I had the exact opposite experience with their " knowledge ". They had no clue about their parts. Got attitude from them when asking more info about a specific part other than what was in the description of the part they were selling.

I've been buying parts from them for 10 years, never had a problem with them or their parts. Their prices seem to be more competitive than some of the other venders.

I have been purchasing parts from them for over 10 years. For the most part they are OK. The important thing for me is they are fairly close so if they give me a bad part I can just return it and don't have to ship it back. They sell the same stuff as Brothers, Classic Industries, CPP, and many others. As mentioned most of these people don't know anything about restoring a vehicle. They just push parts across the counter so if you don't know what you are doing you can't get much help there. However, none of the other places I mentioned know much either.

The thing that I seem to notice, is that they seem to have more stock / original type parts to buy, where the other catalogs seem to lean more toward custom / lowering kind of applications. This is for the 60's vehicles, the earlier ones may not be the same, I'm not familier with that age group. I know when I was looking for some suspension and steering box rebuild parts, they were the only ones that listed them. I'll go back.

the connection with them and COUNTERPARTS is counterparts is mostly the only place that makes repo parts, or at least the vast majority of them. There is DII which is also counterparts. Even fenton headers and intakes are made in china now.But you get the same stuff from any of the venders (mostly)

Counterparts doesn't make anything, they are an importer/distributor and virtually everything they repackage is from China .... there are a number of companies that make reproduction parts in the US, and there are a number of other distributors of US and offshore parts

I believe it stated the the same family owned both companies.

Thanks to everyone who replyed! I've got a lot of items to purchase, so based on the responses, I'm going to give them some business. I'm looking forward to 2013 to get my 1953 panel road worthy. I'm sure I'll drive ya nutz with my rookie questions. Happy holidays!

Late response here - being less than ten miles away I buy tons from them. The only frustration I have is usually more the other customers' fault - the time it takes to get in and out. I go in with a detailed list of what I want, hand it over, and they get it all for me quickly. But I will end up spending well over an hour waiting my turn while it seems everybody in front of me has no idea what they want, and they have the poor counter folks pull half the catalog for them to look at, only to have to put most of it back. As far as part quality, the only issue I have had is with some of the chromed cheaper stuff. For example, front bumper = great, door handle push buttons = rusty after less than a year.

That’s right Gus, I couldn’t find it with our search engine but several years ago
my curiosity got the best of me and I went in search of the source of the
“Counterparts” items. It took me to a guy very close to The Truck & Car Shop. If
I remember correctly at the time of my search, my lead came from the fact that
the addresses were very close to each other. Now they are about a mile apart.
I finally tracked down a number for Counterparts and the man that answered the
phone asked where I got the number and was very guarded with his answers. I did
manage to dig enough out of him to find out that his son owned The Truck & Car
Shop and he owned Counterparts. That accounted for the better prices on some of
their items.
And Bill is correct; Counterparts is not a manufacturer but an importer. He
wouldn’t talk about where the parts come from but judging from the large number
of items that Counterparts supplies to the vendors I’d bet the Middle East, and Far
East are the sources. I’ve found lots of Counterparts that were tagged India,
China, Taiwan and I’m sure there are a lot more off shore countries supplying his
parts. Not that I’m nuts about buying reproduction parts made off shore but lets
face it, if it weren’t for those imported reproduction parts that keep our old trucks
running the shelves would be pretty empty. With our business owners bank
accounts and labor prices in this country where they are now, there is no way in
the world that any US manufacturer is gonna compete with the foreign
competition.

I was just at their Orange store for the first time over the Xmas holidays and was real impressed with the inventory they carry. I also found them real helpful answering my questions and offering suggestions.
