It went to narrow belts & a smaller dia. bypass hose. Weather it is shorter, i'm not sure about.

I put a 292 in a 40 a few years back without moving the radiator.
I also use a flat face flex fan.
You do not need the by-pass set up for car or light truck use.

I do not remember the exact application.
I have done so many jobs since then, I do not remember exactly how I mounted it.

However, as pre'68 Dave notes, it can be used successfully on a 292 if it seals properly to the block.
