Does anybody know if u can buy the half round locking "clip" that holds the bolts tight on an enclosed driveshaft? It goes over the u-joint, is half round , has the two bolt holes and locking tabs. My locking tabs are broken and just want/need ? to replace them (2). I guess I could always remember my F-4 Phantom days and just find some correct bolts to safety wire the bolts. Or am I just worrying too much?

I got new ones with the rear end gear set from Patrick's Call Patricks and ask if they will sell you some.

U-joint bolt lock clips - sold in pairs, I think.

Get new bolts, if yours are roughed-up.

chevs of the 40's has both the special bolts and the retaining clip. If those bolts come out it gets very ugly in there, I took mine apart after 28 years and now I know why the fella I bought it from rebuilt the transmission,(at least said he did) the bolts had obviously came out at one time. The bolts, the yoke, and the little ball joint areas was all beat up. He didn't even bother to dress the high spots caused by the carnage,just bolted it back together. Leading me to wonder what sort of work was done on the transmission.
