The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area The Electrical Bay ignition switch in 50 model panel

i now have my ignition switch in my panel, after setting up for 28 years.......the key was lost.( been running wire from coil to battery)...now that is has been back on the road for 4 weeks......i had a guy make me a key for it, after re-installing the switch, on the 3 conections on back of switch, the old screws were wrapped with what looked lake black elect. tape....after i hooked up the wires do, i need to re-wrap wire connections with electrial tape??????nice to have gas gauge working with the new keyed switch........i left the witch hanging down from wires trying to find light bulb for the switch.no luck yet.......6 volt bulbs are hard to find.......thanks for all replies,,,,,

Covering the ignition connections is not required but it is not a bad idea. I bet almost everyone who has worked under the dash with the battery connected has gotten a spark from touching a loose wire to one of the hot leads on the rear of the ignition.
