Looking to convert my 1968 dually flatbed original wheel split rims w/tubes required, to a more modern tubeless type wheel. Can anyone tell me what other Chevy 1 ton truck years will fit my 68? My 8 lug wheels are 16 inch x I believe 6 inch. Need front and rear.

You don't have to stay GM, all the 8 luggers are the same bolt pattern I think.

Wheels that weigh one ton each would not be easy to change!

See my post under "driveline" unless someone can provide the info on replacement one piece wheels, guys with 67-70 one tons are stuck with the original wheels the truck came with when new...

19.5" 8 lug dual wheels (tubeless) are available and I'm pretty sure they'll fit over your brakes.

I converted my 71 GMC one ton to tubeless. Had to use a special GM plate between the new tapered lug nuts and wheel. Bought the plates at a junk yard and new nuts from Auto Supply. You will find the holes on most tubeless rims to be a sloppy fit on the original studs. The plate and tapered nuts takes care of that. You will also notice the studs are just a tad too short when everything is bolted on. Better check nut torque after fisrt 250 miles

NCridgerunner..1971 is close enough to 1970....What wheels did you use, especially in the Front? I have later model wheels in the back outer - the inners are the original with the outer ring, as they are "Hub Centric" I tried to put the outer rears on the front & found they go to far in, against the control arms, never even got to the lug studs. What I have in the front are 16.5 from most likely a mid 70 ies 3/4 ton. Not "Hub Centric" the taper in the wheel is the strength from the lug nut.The guy who had the truck before me did all the wheel switching, I'm trying to get it back with Radial tubeless tires...I just need to know what wheels to use....Thanks

The tubeless front wheels were already on my truck. I changed the back wheels becuase I needed new tires. The locking ring is so dangerous it cost big money to change the tires. I have no idea what truck my rear wheels came off of. The tire company had a used set and said "try them". They just happen to work fine even though the offset was slightly different. They did however look to be exactly the same offset as their 1974 1 ton truck they use to haul off old tires. Wish I could help more.

I installed 1976 16" Chevy one ton tubeless wheels on my 64 wrecker, no problem. The wheels are not coined , that's the biggest problem because coined wheels will not sit tight on the hub.
