I don't know about all that, but there were floor shifters available years ago, Mr. gasket, and I think Hurst. I'm not sure if they make them any more, but it would give you something to think about.

Hurst makes a 3 speed floor shift conversion, it would take some adaption to use on a torque tube trans though.

I converted to the floor shift for my '62 Muncie 3sp+od, I believe this model is called 319. I did not want to cut up my floor so, using the floor pan as a template I traced out a new 'pan' from plywood. Measured twice cut a couple times.

The challenging part is that when you have the floor pan out and you are seated in the driver's position you realize that the shifter will be right on your right thigh. I fabricated my own bracket and then welded an 'over-up' to place the shifter away from my leg and closer to the middle of the floor. Has worked beautifully for my daily driver '49 the last 12 years.

If you go this way I'll post pictures if you pm me.

Regards,

Cosmo

Try this: http://www.nationalchevyassoc.com/documents/NCA_125_lowres.pdf

They also have lots of used parts for sale. Including cluster mechanisms, transmissions, etc...
