Just got my new master cylinder from Alretta Truck Parts, Inc. Just what is the best/proper way to bench bleed this rascal?
Thanks

I just did this in my '42. Bought the proper brake line, made a loop back to filler hole, put in vice, fill with brake fluid and start pumping till all bubbles are gone. Paint it first though.

Question, mine does not have the bleeder valve (for wheel cylinders) that I'm used to seeing. All of my wheels have a 3/8 hex nut with hole in it and a 5/16 bolt screwed into it...what's the deal here....confused.

Some of the wheel cylinders I've bought have had that type bleeder screw. Not sure why either. Can't remember now whether they were in reproductions or NOS I've bought both. The bolt head may have been 5/16 diameter of bolt smaller.

My '53 6400 is all original with 16K on it and the wheel cylinders all have the plug/bolt in them. They do have a 5/16" head on them but the screw size is more like a #6 or #8. Many of the old shop manuals show this type of bleeder. My guess would be that it is to keep the bleeder hole clean and dirt free.
