I just need an female to female elbow to attach the gas tank to the fuel line. It used to have a little valve, but that has proved hard to find as well. autoparts store not very helpful at least the one starting with O. No napa anywhere around sadly.

Anyone know if that valve is really needed?

I just bought the following parts from O'Reilly

331220 - Shutoff 1/8 NPT female both ends
216200 - 1/8 male female elbow
820250 - 1/8 male NPT to 5/16 hose

These are all Plews & Edelmann parts numbers but they'll show up on O'Reilly website.

Thanks chad.

Are those the right size? Not sure what teh 1/8 means. The OD of my fitting i need to match to is like 1/2 inch?

Don't laugh to hard at my ignorance.

1/2" in dia in about the size of 1/8" pipe so it should work. I have a 1/8" nipple 2" long that comes from the bottom of my tank and then the elbow above is screwed into that.

You may want to install a hose at the bottom of the tank to allow for flexing. That's how it was originally.

I have a fuel filter at the bottom also. The valve is usefull when changing the filter for me.

That's a good location for a filter. I added a filter at the carb when I was having flooding issues last summer.

Yes,
One of the other bolters gave me the part number for the filter that screws into the carter and has the correct flare fitting

They sell mostly Ferd parts but MAC's Antique Auto Parts has a great selection of obscure fittings for fuel and brakes.

With a 60+ year old tank I'd go with DADS50 set up of a filter at the tank and one at the carb. That's what I run...never a problem!
