Hi stovebolters, like many others trucks of that era, my 41 1/2 ton is titled by its engine serial number:AD606326 this number is for a 41 216 c.i. from Flint, Michigan, this number was stamped long time ago(perhaps when the truck was new)below the truck v.i.n. 5CK041714, means a 45-46 interim series,and my truck have all the characteristics of a 46(rear window,fender brackets,leather seal on the gas tank filler neck, bare metal pedals...)it have the chrome trim, but perhaps added after in its life? my truck is a U.S. model and spent the majority of its life in Wisconsin,and seem all original(i d ont think someone rebuilt this truck from a pile of mixed parts)have you seen that many times ? thanks, Simon.

As you can imagine a lot can (and does) happen in 60-70 years... Having said that, I doubt that a 41 engine would have been put in a 45-46 truck when new. Military applications were gobbling up engines as fast as Chevy could make them...

One other time I saw an engine serial number stamped on a body ID plate along with the body serial number. And that's good for you seeing that it matches the title VIN.
