Anyone know where I can get a simple wiring
diagram for ,, HEI dist. 2 wire alternator,starter,and ignition, I have a real mess here,and would like to clear it up.Its a 327 in a 62 chev shortbox.any help would be appreciated

Hi Bob:
Yours is obviously not a stock set-up seeing how you are using an HEI distributor. HEI...the underside of the distributor cap socket should show wiring destination. One is straight to your ignition source (don't use a dropping resistor), the other is for a tach connection. 2-wire alternator...screw terminal to battery B+, other wire to idiot light (I think). I have a three-wire and the other wire goes to B+ also. Starter...solenoid to ignition switch via a neutral/park switch. Your solenoid may have an "ign" connection that was intended to be used for a points type distributor; it fed 12v directly to the distributor during cranking. You don't need this connection for your HEI. Ignition...your ignition switch should be getting power directly from B+, a 30A fuse in-line is a good idea so you don't start a fire when you have a short. Hope this helps.
