For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 1,780 Master Gabster | | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 1,780 | This question has been asked a lot over the years and we have tried to answer it but without pictures it's been hard to prove. Well I found some pictures that might be helpful and if someone could save these for future use would be great. 1947/55 PANEL SIDE VIEW Notice that it just doesn't quite fit the contour at the rear top portion of the fender. 1947/55 PANEL REAR VIEW In this photo you can see that this fender was designed to fit against a flat bedside and not to the curvature of the panel body, 1947/55 DRIVERS FRONT/REAR VIEW You can see how far out from the body it sticks out. Not bad for a custom with big wheels and tires. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 4,261 "Hey! I sound like Darth Vader!! | | "Hey! I sound like Darth Vader!! The biggest problem would be at the running board if you trimmed the existing flange to meet the profile of the panel fender. I think the profile is more bulbous on the truck fender while the panel fender is gently sloped. I don't have a truck fender to match with one of my panel fenders. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 1,780 Master Gabster | | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 1,780 | Now I am really curious, I may have to do some comparisons this weekend. There is a guy near our shop that has a 1950 pick up and i have a fender I can match it up with. The more I looked at the pictures the less I feel comfortable saying you can't adapt one of the truck fenders to work on a panel. I don't need to worry myself, because I have a couple of decent fenders form my project, but others aren't so lucky. | | |
