Another gift from a prior owner on my 57 3100...

He apparently decided to replace the right cab corner (left needs done too), but could not afford the inner. The inner was cut off when the outer was replaced. So, lots of rocks and dust as you drive down my rural roads.

Question is, with inner patch panel in hand, do I need to cut off his otherwise good replacement of the outer to fit the inner? I think he did a decent job of welding in the outer and would hate to have to cut it off too (but will, if you tell me to).

I certainly don't know enough to tell you what to do, but will instead offer some food for thought.

On the Brothers website they show a series of photos on replacing the cab corner. Instead of installing a new inner panel they cap the hole inside the cab and weld on a brace underneath. On my truck the inners were in decent shape so I just replaced the outers without facing the question you have before you.

After fabricating both of my inner patches out of 20 ga and welding them in (with the outer's in place) I can see why they came up with an easier solution
