For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 76 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 76 | I have an exhaust leak. I did find that the bolts holding the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold were loose and corrected that. I also noted that at the back (firewall) of the exhaust manifold a bolt was missing to hold the back "ear" of the manifold. There should be one there right? I currently have six bolts in the manifold. Quite often it is replaced with a bolt. Might want to double check.
Hopefully the exhaust donut wasn't beaten up too bad from the bolts being loose.

Now that I think of it - I have seen the "alignment" studs before. The front exhaust manifold hole is filled with a bolt. The rear, I can place a bolt in the hole in the exhaust manifold hole - bit there doesn't seem to be any threads there. Tomorrow - I'll get a mirror out and get a bright light and see what I have there. I did think about the exhaust pipe donut being burnt too. Finally I did think about the resurfacing. All good thoughts - I appreciate your time and efforts. Stay tuned... Are the gaskets different? Tim-o | | |
