but it appears to have a different engine than my other one that has the origional engine in it which has the same # on the block behind the distributer as on the vin tag
this engine has no # on the block behind the distributer and has larger spark plug holes other than that it looks identical the block # is 369337 with gm 48 stamped under it the head # is 838773 can anyone give me a heads up on this thanks

What is the code that is pressed into the block, in the ledge to the rear of where the distributor goes into the lock? post the date casting codes for the head and block | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | It is probably a replacement block that came from the factory with no engine serial number, or it is a replacement block that someone has ground off the engine serial number.
See if you can find/post the date casting codes.
