Where can I buy a non-halogen 12v headlight bulb for my '54 3104 (converted to 12v)?
Thanks,

So I bought 2 halogens. A great upgrade. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 1,232 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 1,232 | My simple question has become not-so-simple.

American Classic only sells halogen. Same for the other usual suppliers. NAPA shows non-halogen on line (6014), but store says that they are no longer available ... halogen only (6024). I agree that halogen would be a good upgrade, but trying to stay old-school.

I think that I just don't want to see "Halogen" on the bulb. I found non-halogen bulbs on line at Do-It-Best hardware and can be shipped to the store. I'll check out this afternoon. Otherwise, I'll contact one of your sources.
Thanks for the links. Glens Surplus is new to me. Looks interesting.
A bit of useless info that I dug up ... I believe that the original bulb that would have been in my truck was a 6v #6006. The 12v bulb in 55(2nd), 56, 57 was #6012 (40amp low/50amp hi). The 6012 was superceeded by #6014 (50amp low/60amp hi). The 12v halogen bulb is #6024.
I guess if I wanted a true '54, I should have had Ken Warner build a 6v gen for my truck instead of a 12v disguised as a 6v. I chould have converted it all back to 6v pretty easily. You're right - I'm not as old school as I pretend to be!

I bought two GE #6014 incandescent sealed beam headlights on-line from Do-It-Best Hardware for $4.39 each. Delivered to my local store with no shipping. The flutes in the center of the glass lens are a tighter pattern than the old 6014, 6012, or 6006 headlights. They kinda look like the flutes in a halogen headlight. Another example of me being "overly-picky". Anyway, the headlights are installed and burning. Bring on the night!
