Our 1949 Chevy 3600 is hard to drive at night, it doesnt have gauge lighting! Are they supposed to be lit??

TEMPORARY SOLUTION: For those smartphone owners out there. We downloaded a speedometer application that uses the GPS to track your speed... Voila! We can drive the truck at night!!

Just one more tool to add to the box.

The instruments should light up with your headlights. If the rheostat is gone, you can connect your dash lights to the headlight terminal on the headlight switch.

There should be two instrument sockets, and a hi beam indicator
Here is a pic of my 50 speedo
...pic...
the bottom socket is for high beam indicator on my truck.

It would be a good idea to get your instrument lights working.

I always use my GPS to double check my speedometer or in some of my vehicles where the speedometer isn't 100% accurate.
