I finally finished wiring the aftermarket turn-signals in my 53. I added smaller lights out back Rick\'s truck . It works great and I feel much safer driving in downtown traffic! One thing bothers me though: I cant hear the flasher. It emits a very soft tchik-tchik-tchik... The result is I almost always forget them on. A friends says you can buy either a noisy or quiet flashers, is that so?

Yes, it's an extra loud flasher relay. J.C. Whitney has them,; as well as most chain-type auto parts stores.

I had the same problem. I got a cheep beeper from Radio Shack like they use for backup alarms and wired it to the flasher. Now it beeps when the flasher is "open".

I used part # 273-054A, a mini-buzzer off the shelf at Radio Shack at $2.79. This one is 3-7 volts, but they also come in 12 volts or greater. Just wired it between two of the flasher poles. Even tucked up under the dash it is plenty loud to serve as a reminder the turn signal is on. If it's too loud, put a piece of tape over it.

how about installing/wiring up a solenoid in the seat, timed to poke you in the back, if the turn signals are left on too long.
