I have a 12v system and I am using a Signal Stat model 900 turn signal. Everything works but when the signal is activated it seems to increase the blinking speed after a few seconds. I have checked the wireing and all seems to be OK all lamps work. Could I be having a ground problem? Any help would be welcome. Also I have newver been able to get the indicator lamp to work inside of the Signal Stat.

Is this new behavior? Or has it always done this? If it's new behavior, I would suspect a ground problem. If it's always done this, I would suspect the flasher.

The pilot bulb may never have been connected. How many prongs does your flasher have? (OK, stop snickering - this is a legit question) . The third prong on three prong flashers is used for the pilot bulb. If you have a two prong flasher, the pilot light may never have been connected.

The flasher is a simple bi-metal strip that bends with heat and bows one direction due to uneven expansion. Current flow through it heats it and makes it bow to break current, cool down, and repeat process. That is why they made heavy duty flashers that had slightly more temp resistance if you were towing a boat trailer as more bulbs put increased current load and rapid flashing. Try another flasher and look for one that says "heavy duty".

Thanks for the replys. I should have explained the system a little better. The system has a 3 prong heavy duty flasher and it has always been working this way from the day I installed it about 10 years ago. I have also installed a small beeper to let me know that it is on. Just thought someone might have run into this before. I have replaced the wire harness and the flasher since the inital install. Still no help. Kind of a noggen scratcher.

The 3rd. prong is for the indicator light. Your
switch would need to be grounded for it to work.
The bulb could be burned out also. It seems the
inconsistant flashing rate would be in the flasher

Inconsistant flash rate is an indication that the flasher is on the way out.
