Hello, My name is Jim. New to the site, and I'm starting to really love the older Chevy trucks!! Little bout myself- I'm 21, going through college and working as much as I can. Hobbies include working on older cars, drag racing and some model building. I have two daily driver(1990 Olds and 1997 GMC C1500). I also have a 1979 Trans Am that I restored, Mom brought it new in 79. It's mostly orginal, still have the 6.6 403 Olds. And Also I drag Race a 1994 s10 that has a .040 over sbc 400 (408ci). New motor only been in for about a month now. Best I had it down the track was at 10.83 et and 120mph on alky with tires spinning, still working on making it better.
Now, the part that you guys probably be more interested in. Got a friend of mine that I met a few month ago at the track (he has a 1963 nova with a 6 cyl). and just a few weeks ago he told me he has an old truck sitting in the barn. He has a 1955 2nd ed. chevy, 6400 2 ton that been sitting there for 20+ years. Has a 261 6 cyl. with a 4spd behind it. Also it has a 2spd rear in it. I have not seen it yet but he gonna call me when he done harvesting the beans off the fields to come look at it. Said the body was still in good shape. I can't wait to see it and looking online makes me want it even more. I think he the orginal owner also.
I believe that this site will help me a lot. Right now I'm thinking that I would like to restore the body, axle and frame but thinking of making it more highway friendly with putting a LS motor and a tremec 6spd. (don't know why but I think the 2spd rear is neat and not in the biggest hurry to get it done) I know I'm getting ahead of myself but giving me something to look forward to and to think on.
I am looking forward to hear from everyone on here.
Thanks
Jim
