Has anyone placed wire screen under the cowl vent to cut down on debris? Glad you did? Wish you hadn't?

My 37 doesn't have the screen but my 52 panel does.....I'd think yours would have it to??....but putting one in should be do-able.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile

The screen in my '54 cowl vent is rusted badly and isn't long for this world. Can a guy get new screen? I mean the type that's in it, not a piece cut out of my window at home.

On my '38 the cowl vent screen is part of the vent itself. It raises and lowers with the vent. This pre-restoation picture shows it well.

Yes, so is mine but I would like to replace the mesh, or is replacing the entire vent to only solution?

I didn't look at the construction of mine when it was out but I imagine it was "permanently" mounted to the vent and they replaced the whole unit when necessary. Of course one with the skills and equipment can alter or fab about anything.
