I've got a baaaaad leak on my waterpump. So, I've got a new one! But, I need to squash the pulley mounting thing further down the shaft, as I've got a 235, in a '49.

What size press do I need to do this? Can I get away with a 1 Ton arbor press? Or do I need something more powerfull?

Thanks in advance!

An arbor press should do it.

Thanks for the info, this seems like a good enough excuse to get an arbor press, and stop trying to improvise!

If that's all you need to do a bench vice might do the trick. Be sure you support the shaft from the bottom and not press on the bearings/housing.

OK, if I were looking for a shop press this is a great one.
OTC press
I used one and was quite impressed, it's a lot of press for the money and well made.
They have larger and smaller and even bench top ones as well.
