I've got a '58 panel with the 283 and a three speed tranny. The engine will probably be replaced and the transmission will be a 5 speed. While I'm at it, the front brakes will probably changed over to disc and I'm looking for suggestions and ideas. First, does anybody have a kit for this? If not, what would be the best (not necessarily the cheapest) way of going about this? Lastly, I'm also open to the idea of going from a 6 to a 5 lug system on all fours, so if that is the best way to do this, I'm open to suggestions. TIA.

there are kits available from a number of the vendors for front disks on the TF 1/2T's, I believe most, if not all, require going 5 bolt ... a question more appropriate to the HiPo forum, it's not panel-specific

Other than what Bill said, 6 lug rotors are available from several vendors these days. You should swap the old style ball bearings for roller bearings when you do the job.

Best wishes,

Bought mine from CPP, and it came with the proper roller bearings

Front disc

Disc Brakes

Bolts right on, I wanted to keep my straight axle, pulled a rear end from an early 80s Camero, had to have the spring perches welded on, all 5 lug now.

I have a 3800 9 foot panel 1959 GMC with 8 lug wheels. Was thinking of a bolt on also, but really need a date correct hood. The shipper didn't tie it down and it flew off apparently.
