No ID # on the sticker so Jasper couldn't tell me anything they did to it or when. The oil pan is a bluish-green and in pretty good shape. Is there any way to tell without taking it apart if it has harden valve seats or should I just add lead at fill-up just to be on the safe side? | | | | | Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 402 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 402 | no, you cant tell if there seats in there unless you take it apart. you can look at the tips of the exhaust valves and see if they are all in line with each other, that might tell you something. but maybe not, depends on the guy doing the valve job.

Back when the swap to low-lead and no-lead fuel first happened, we had some problems with exhaust valve seat erosion, but for some reason it hasn't happened much lately. Maybe they changed the fuel blend in some way.
