One more question the variable switch under dash has a light bulb missing (switch is for the heater).does any one know the number of that bulb it is tiny like a flash light bulb. thanks for all your help. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 1,232 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 1,232 | I believe that you have a '52. The 1952 Operator's Manual calls for #55 six-volt bulbs in the instrument cluster. Use #57 if your electrical system has been converted to twelve volts. Gas Gauge Info from Fifth Avenue Antique Auto Parts: "If dash gauge reads, FULL when tank is known to be only half full the wiring between the tank or the sender is bad. Ground the gas tank sender terminal using a jumper wire, if the dash gauge still shows full there is bad wiring between the dash gauge and the tank sender. If the dash gauge goes to empty, the gas tank sender is defective."> 1952 Operator's Manual - full> Bulb Chart - 1952 Operator's Manual> Gas Gauge Problems - Fifth Avenue > More Gas Gauge Info - Chevytrucks(dot)org

Thanx in advacne for any info! | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | hey Hamber - the sender don't know from voltage, it's just resistance [30 ohms originally], but 12V will fry your 6V gauge, it'll need a dropping [Runtz] resistor or a different gauge, which would also need to be compatible with the 30 ohm sender
